New HFS4 owner with initial setup questions
New HFS4 owner here with initial setup questions....
1) Should I use map 2 with a single 1.0mm or a single 1.2mm jet? As single jets, they seem cross the boundary into map 2 from map 1. Which should I use for the larger single jets? 2) Page, 21, step 9: Okay to select 2.5 BAR for a 2.0 BAR sensor? 3) Page 21, step 12: Can you confirm that the user guide is correct in that WBO2 is grouped with EGT and there is NO soldering to do here? 4) Page 21, step 13: If I am not going to worry about failsafe yet and just leave this configured to trip the low water LED, will it still compensate flow based on WB02? 5) Page 14, step 1: Should I trigger on IDC or P+I? My engine is a supercharged stock motor and it is PI, not DI. Seems like I can go either way on this. I do want to start spraying before boost comes on if that makes sense. Is there an advantage to using the P+I on non-DI? 6) Once I get this running for the first time, which knobs should I start twiddling first and is there a recommended setting order or method? Referring to TRESH, P/I-R and GAIN here. |

Re: New HFS4 owner with initial setup questions
Answers:
1) Map 2 (default) 2) Yes 3) Yes, ascending = danger. 4) Yes, just solder link "W" only 5) You can go anyway on this. Experiment which is best. Try IDC first 6) "THRES" is the only one you need to twiddle.

Re: New HFS4 owner with initial setup questions
Great, thanks!
Impressed with the quality of the kit parts as well as with what is included, not to mention the meticulous packaging and labeling. 6) So no advantage to setting P/I-R to 70/30 versus the default of 50/50? Soldering question... I normally use a quality rosin core "44" solder and run a tip temperature of about 680*F. Is this going to be fine? Last edited by FI_Rubicon; 07-02-2016 at 09:45 PM. |

Re: New HFS4 owner with initial setup questions
The kit is as complete as possible, no need to rush to local shop for bits frequently.
6) I think you need to try the PI-R for best results. 50/50 works well. Soldering: It is fine, 60/40 at 360C is perfect. Send a picture of your soldering skills.

Re: New HFS4 owner with initial setup questions
Awesome! Thanks!
Looking forward to implementing the modern version of Sir Harry Ricardo's vision here and now in California. The kit is perfectly at home in my Jeep Wrangler, which says "Since 1941" right on the "Oh Sh*t!" grab-handle. |

Re: New HFS4 owner with initial setup questions
Hi Richard,
Thanks again for your support. I have a thread going on a Jeep JK-specific forum and can echo it here somewhere (maybe on the model-specific forum?). http://www.jkowners.com/forum/showthread.php?t=306937 Here is my solder job. Darn! I am getting old. It was a little tedious and small for my tired old eyes. Even had to clean the eyeglasses and magnifying glass to get a clear view. |

Re: New HFS4 owner with initial setup questions
Looks perfect to me. I will visit the link today.
Can you check the tiny centre link of the MPS is cut. It looks very close to the blob on the left.
